Happy New Year.
In this new primer on my Planetary CFO website, I try to bridge one of the gaps between sustainability and accountancy (or build on the overlaps, if I'm being more optimistic) for the benefit of the typical "person on the Clapham Omnibus".
I've called the piece "Between Zero and Infinity - a primer on accounting for sustainability at national and global levels"
and it can be found here:
I start at a very simple level, and build increasing complexity and depth as I proceed. You can follow for as far as the level of complexity feels comfortable. That’s fine. But I’d encourage you to go even further than that – into a level of complexity that stretches you and makes you think hard, providing a learning opportunity. There isn’t enough hard thinking done on this topic by the people who make the most important decisions in the world. We are awash with poor, or simply sub-optimal, decisions, as a result. I’m sure you’ll be able to bring to mind several such examples, at local, regional, national and global scale, without much effort.
Feedback would be much appreciated.
